Governor Ferguson’s budget reductions include a 3% cut to state funding for public four-year universities. Cabinet-level agencies take 6%. K-12 was exempted. Universities were not.

Evergreen is already running a $3.6 million deficit. The pool closes in June for lack of $60,000. The bookstore is being restructured. Staff positions have been eliminated. Now the state is sending 3% less.

Enrollment is up 13%. Funding is down. The millionaire tax doesn’t produce revenue until 2029. Three years of austerity, starting now.
